About Leila

Leila Borris is 27 years of age. Originally from London, she grew up in Islington with a brief spell in Essex before relocating to London as a student. Her native accent is Cockney. Leila's accent has so far been a help - rather than a hindrance - to her career. She has a natural ear for accents, including RP, and an aptitude for comedic roles.

Leila has been acting and dancing from a very early age. She joined a children's theatre group at the age of 12 after training as a dancer from the age of 2. Leila enjoyed an early career as a model, an extra (for films such as Jude) and a bit part actor (in programmes such as The Bill).

Aged 18, Leila went to St Mary's University where she undertook a three year BA (Hons) degree in Drama, gaining a 2:1 upon graduation in 2001. Following her degree course, Leila auditioned for and won a place at Drama Studio London in Ealing, a drama school which specialises in one year post graduate courses for actors and directors.

Since leaving Drama school, Leila has done a little bit of everything including voice over, film, TV and theatre. She is a hard working, conscientious and unpretentious young actor.

Leila is a keen writer, and is currently taking a Masters in Creative Writing: Plays and Scripts, at City University in London, which she is due to finish oin November 2007. She has also begun writing for the Soho Theatre, and is working on a sitcom with a fellow writer. Recently Leila wrote a play called So This Is It which she acted in and produced through her production company, RubyBlue Productions. She has also adapted the book War Crimes for the Home into a play, which she then went on to produce and act in.  Please see RubyBlue Productions for more on these projects.
